BTF... and whoever else has interest.... I was hoping to find a page on the internet somewhere where someone was doing a pinterest page or compilation on low watt products/appliances. w/ technology changing so fast, i kno there is always new stuff coming out, and hard to keep up. for example....i know i need to get into led lights for the home now... we had just purchased a bunch of the CFL's and then on further research found they are only good if you plan to have that light on for like 3 hours...else you'll have drastically reduced bulb-life. it's just really not efficient for flipping on & walking down a dark hall. trying to bridge the gap from dependence on the grid to conservation that will go w/ us if the grid goes down kinda thought (and we need to hook up solar stuffs). so if anyone finds any links, good pages, unbiased price comparison, tips etc.... and not just lightbulbs.... appliances n such too, I would appreciate the info

oh nice! i was always a 40 w fan in the old ones. i ran my old house on sub 100$ a month electric with no natural gas. but it was for the sake of the bill lol. i found that heat and air are really the greatest expense. so my plan is to run one thing at a time off solar as needed. at least right now. i may improve my plan when i get resources. but a panel and an outlet to run off of it would do wonders. a toaster oven can cook anything. same with several small kitchen appliances. I have not bought my converter/outlet yet to hookup tho, this reminds me to get on that. but no heat and air is a big part of my energy plan. at least under current circumstances. will get more advanced if i get the chance but have not been able to work on that much. but got lots of tasty farm animals so food situation is good at least

I have been replacing our old bulbs with LEDs for a while and none of them have burned out.

i am tickled! i had been trying for a lonnnnng time to get an ebay deal on a good pure sine inverter for the budding solar plans....but then so does everyone else! i guess everyone was partying on new yrs eve, lol, that is when i snagged it up! we have a few batteries, but need the deep cycle kind & i only have 3, 100w panels for starters...but hoping to see a price dip on those again to grow the array. this whole thing has been baby steps for sure. i was price comparing led's at walmart & they were still pretty pricey...i may end up purchasing online instead.

im not sure if youve seen this. i have not duplicated it, i did try but i broke my lighter. but the concepte seems right with a closed circuit not losing its power. i was actually trying this before i got hurt and forgot bout it. www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10151740927586986&fref=nf
