- An important article (and PRAYER REQUEST) released today about Pastor John MacArthur (or should I say Saul of Tarsus?), a VERY influential leader in the non-charismatic evangelical churches
Quote from article ...- "Yes, Pastor MacArthur has branded the charismatic movement a “false church” and is calling for an all-out war against it".
{I DO believe absolutely that there is garbage (error) going on in some "Charismatic" groups and that individuals and "ministries" need to be held accountable and dealt with properly}
... but Mac is about to launch a campaign to destroy the whole charismatic work of the Holy Spirit.

geez.... ran across something old and timely.... doug batchelor heaping charismatic movement as bad too (i admit not knowing much about him except he had a good testimony).... so anyways.... really, i'm not out looking for anything related james.... but it's just plain God speaking here in connecting stuff.
the unforgivable sin is what? the charismatic movement's main theme is baptism in the Holy Spirit. of course the devil will be rt alongside anything God is doing.... whatever happened to 'consider all things, keep that which is good'?
anyhoo.... will be interesting in light of John Fenn's prophecy and ministers dying....will they be good ones removed for judgement to come or will they be the saul's of tarsus as a wake up sign?

wow strangely ive never heard of any of these people. but i do recall in jpjs perfect storm he mentioned that things would begin to speed up after 2 patriarchs died. and i know that billy graham on his last bday scheduled and event for this bday this summer cuz God told him he would have one more bday. i think he basically prophecied that it would be his last, though he didnt put it in those words so maybe not.
what else i know is that mr fenn doesnt see the next generation of leaders because they arent meant to be seen. sure there are some who will be moving in front of everyone but many are small now and dont know they will be big. and many dont want to be famous and will be moving in new ways. ways the Lord is opening doors for now and ways that few will see in the world but within the body will have a massive effect. peter brought in 3000 off the street and into the kingdom, and he didnt even have a microphone. that is power. television is the old way and its over. God is bringing in new ways and ways long forgotten to glorify His kingdom. its an awesome time!!

This can't be a comment on the entire Charismatic movement as it is Biblical and plays a part in end times. So I think it'd be better to let him delimit what he regards as garbage and what he regards as genuine gifts of God. Of course, there are those who see a limited God and feel that the end of the era has been and gone. Whatever he is criticising needs to be judged against scripture. While we are taking a look at 'the church' we perhaps need to look at other areas and apply the same test. A read through Revelations will reveal the wisdom of this. Ain't going to that lukewarm church down the road!

lol.... now i'm getting attacks from peeps that either went to the conf. or are reading macarthur's book.... LOL they r even using the 'strange fire' terminology. always reminded of this imagery (dunno how well you can see it/pict.)... it's in Lord of the Rings... when the 'Ents' break the dam.... they then root to the ground whilst everything flushes around them. as we hit the mark of the high calling (break that dam)... and everything is chaos & rushes against and around us.... we sink even deeper into our foundation for strength. we hit the mark, God does the purging and we hang on in the midst. hava great week fellow overcomers!

There are some 'strange' things within some charismatic churches / movements which do not seem biblical or settle well within my spirit personally and I do wonder whether some of it is fleshly or demonic and due to ignorance / deception is not properly dealt with. But, I believe that to reject all things 'charismatic' due to fear or pride is definitely not the answer and seems to go against scripture. This seeming suppression of the Holy Spirit's power and judgemental attitude between Christians also probably pleases the enemy no end as it is such potentially damaging obstacle in furthering the Kingdom of our God on earth. I confess that I do not know much about Macarthur and his views in detail, but however close to the truth his views may or may not be, he is still just a man who only 'knows in part' (1 Cor 13 v9) - as we all do

Is God all powerful? Does the Bible relate miracles, events, signs, healings and supernatural provision? Well yes, of course, but here is a list of the things he can't do anymore.
Does God give gifts (charismata)? He used to but that was back in the day; all that weird Pentecost stuff, flames, tongues, 'drunkeness' - not having that in my church!
Is God eternal; the same yesterday, today and until the end of time? Now that's a tricky one. There are allegories. Look at science.
Old Mack is buying in to a lesser god. My God is almighty. He seeks fellowship. He is supernatural. His wonders make me smile. I never want to leave his presence. Next week I might come down off the fence.
This is an ironic fake interview with a non-Charismatic - hope it didn't confuse anyone. [warrior]

these are the days of fine lines for sure... and the thing is the devil is right next to stuff so in one worshiping body everything may be in alignment but in another pride or lack of discernment etc is a doorway to taint the whole thing and then all people point to is the bad & throw the baby out w/ the bath water. breaking fellowship...discrediting.... if we thought about what the devil is doing & played out strategy in our mind... it makes all too much sense. of course it's hard to think 'if i was supremely evil.... what all would i do?' but that's kinda what the military has always had to do & we can learn a thing or two from an offensive mindset.
i'll post a great 'doozy' of fine line failure in a min.... better start it's own thread.

'When one of you says, "I am a follower of Paul," and another says, "I follow Apollos," aren't you acting just like people of the world?' 1 Cor 3 v4
Many Christians appear to be waiting for the next 'revelation' (i.e. opinion) from a 'celebrity Christian' instead of doing the work themselves by going directly to the source. It's seems so unhealthy - encouraging pride and distorted motivation on the part of the speaker and idolatry, laziness and insecurity in a personal relationship with God in the 'followers' who then gang up against one another (causing division within divisions). This is instead of focusing directly on the source; scripture and the Holy Spirit who 'guides us into all truth' (John16 v13) and encourages Christlike attitude and action which is far more productive. Has anything changed – despite the fact that the bible has become far more accessible and many more of us are literate?

Words of great wisdom, Salt. We are not followers of men. The devil sure does try to get in the church; its foretold and I'm sure we can discern it going on right now as the end game warms up.

John Wesley, revivalist and founder of the Methodist church in the early 1800s was quoted in the attached article: "I was fully convinced of what I had once suspected ... that the grand reason why the miraculous gifts were so soon withdrawn was not only that faith and holiness were well nigh lost,
but that dry, formal orthodox men began even then to ridicule whatever gifts they had not themselves, and to decry them all as either madness or imposture."The article continues .. Beginning with the dawn of the 20th century, the church has seen an explosion of the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit around the world. Churches old and new are embracing this dynamic work of the Spirit in their midst, and this very diverse movement now numbers over 600 million worldwide and is growing at the rate of 9 million per year. This Pentecostal/charismatic movement that MacArthur so detests is actually a fulfillment of biblical prophecy for Peter, who, in explaining the tongues on the Day of Pentecost, declared: "And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy" (Acts 2:17-18). - > Note: GO TO TOP OF THIS PAGE/THREAD AND CLICK Page2 TO VIEW/POST FURTHER COMMENTS www.charismanews.com/opinion/41728-the-false-doctrine-behind-the-strange-fire-of-john-macarthur
