Had to sit here in this nursing home in the dark with no power ( no lights, TV, radio or internet) for 13 hours. Had to keep my curtains closed the last three hours. Texted my brother in down in Arkansas to find out what was going on here in Chicago (and to get the score of the Bear's game (football)being played here at Soldier field. Told me of the tornados up here. ..and that game had been suspended (dangerous weather).. the players and the fans(40,000?)at Soldier Field were evacuated into interior stadium corridors for over 2 hours. Anyway, shortly afterward the "all clear" was sounded and opened my curtains ... just in time to see elec company workers driving away from a telephone/power transformer pole in parking lot that they just finished repairing (hit by lightning. Pole is still bent so they'll probably be back to replace it. uhg. means we'll be without power again). Anyway power came back on .. TV came back on and watched all the fans pour back into the stands. No Chicago stadium had ever been evacuated before. Everyone safe tho. Sadly tho several Illinois towns were hit by tornados including Washington Il. 140 miles away .. 500 homes destroyed.

yeah very strange to see a storm like that fly right over tornado alley down here and go way up north. sounds like, jpj perfect storm, tornadoes in strange places. hey james i didn't know you had a brother down my way. I'm guessing the village. lots of people from chicago move down there. trade a shack for a palace at half the price, its a smart move i think:) are you in town chicago? i heard their munis got downgraded to junk last week. they are aiming at being the next detroit before long. i am pretty concerned for the big cities in this country and where things are heading.

We were watching the Bengals v Browns and it cut live over to Soldier Field. Those skies were scary impressive. I think they lost 1hr 53 mins.
