i think my grandmother may have done more than she seemed to be doing. since she passed i have struggled with this and that. but when i went to work today all was well, i didn't wreck on the ice and it all melted off the roads by noon and was smooth sailing. when i got home however i learned that my father fell on the ice, taking out the trash, and got a concussion, my youngest has fever, and a pack of dogs got in the yard and killed 3 sheep. i felt like our spiritual covering was not there for some reason. wonder if its grandmothers prayers or if there is something for me to learn from all this. i wonder if we are being tossed in the wind or steered by the sail right now.
then i went to check on the sheep that made it, they said we were down to 4 but then i found a 5th and her new born twins. while the others were being attacked she had gone into the barn and given birth to healthy twins. so not all is lost. kind of feels like a picture of life right now. attack in the field and new birth in the barn.
i am going to have to finally go put an end to that pack of dogs now though. the neighbor stopped me last year. she started feeding them and making sure they wouldn't attack. but now they are getting divorced and she isn't worried about the stray dogs and so our rear guard got let down.
dad seems to be ok, just a head ache. he is on pain meds. he just started back to work a week ago and has had to take this whole week off. i hope that all works out, but physically he seems to be ok now.

ugh, i hate that feeling....reminds me when a coon killed all 23 of our heritage chickens & we hadda start all over again & cuz of that my sons fair entries were deemed 'not old enuff'.
we actually had a major farm surprise today.... in our meat pen grow out rabbit pens we had a surprise litter born and only lost one. we brought this new 1st time mommy in & gave her a box & weren't sure if she'd care for them but thought positive since they were all huddled under her in that pen (amazing). and so we took some pulled fur from another mom to cover her babes & soon enuff, she started pulling hers & constructing the nest just how she wanted it. it's really important to see that, cuz if they don't pull, then the food source isn't exposed.... so happy we aren't shipping them off to other recently kindled moms. good for her too, cuz she's not in the meat pen anymore ;p
we have not heard the coyote pack around here this winter- whew.
u kno i think dogs let loose when end time disaster strikes will b one of the worst things.... people will abandon them cuz they can't feed them & don't have the heart to put them down, but when they pack & wild instincts & hunger kick in....i think it's scarier than any zombie apocalypse. do what u gotta do in the spirit & in the natural.

yeah on the up side i think my dad and i got on the same page about what to do and what is coming. our neighbor went to the doctor and the doctor asked him if he owned any guns as part of the new obama care guidelines. and then the doctor told him looking at his medical history and him being a gun owner that it is basically a sure thing that the government will be taking his guns away. so he came home terrified and starting trying to sell all his guns so the government can't get them. and now he doesn't want any involvement helping to shoot dogs that attack our sheep and so on. he doesn't want to draw any attention to himself. its kind of amazing to see people act like this in the US but people are just afraid to be on the radar of this government.
anyway so now i got my van stuck in the mud, my washing machine leaking, my back hurting, and got my entire saturday kind of taken away by a freak circumstance and the kids got pop corn all over my floor. and then had a nightmare on top of that. on the up side we one of the things i did yesterday was picked up our butchered half cow. so we got steaks for days and a bunch of roasts and like 100 lbs of ground beef and bunch of cube steaks. the freezer is full! so thats a big plus, and the new twin lambs are doing well.
oh well never stop moving. just gona keep rolling from here. my invest in some web electric fence and start doing the joel salatin thing with the sheep. was thinking this week that if i could build a base to put the fence on of like pipe or something that i could just go drag the whole thing in sections around the pasture. then attach a second pen for the meat bird behind it. and tie the feed and water and maybe a small shelter as well so it could all be dragged. not sure if that is necessary but seems like a time saver if i could ever get it built. may just start with the fence.

we hit a sale yesterday & got all our conduit for re-doing the hoop house. have looked many a time at the web fence stuff, but really doesn't fit our set up rt now.... maybe after the goats have their kids (ahhh!, will b soon enuffff!) the fridge side of our side-by-side fridge/freezer died (defect on the board & model & service for it discontinued).... so i did some redneck ingenuity stuffs & took off a vent cover & pried open the vent between both sides so it'll cool down the fridge side. not quite cold enuff for milk & certain perishables (better for less door opening stuff) but at least it's now usable. we have another good functioning sidebyside so it's not like we're having a fridge emergency, LOL.
