James 1:2-5
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to them."
God is awesome. He always gives us the tools we need. When I first excepted Jesus into my life back in 1992, God had me in a church that was totally focused on bible studies. Someone, somewhere, at anytime of the week was holding a bible study. It was a perfect situation for a beginner. Each year everyone chose a verse to lean on through out the year. This was my verse one year. It really has become the verse of my life. God spoke to my character through this verse. From birth God had given me an unbreakable spirit. Nothing ever got me down and I was always looking to do something. Always busy. I started my own lawn business at the age of 12. Even though I grew up in a broken home, somehow, someway I never let things get me down.
The ruler of this world will not stop persecuting the inhabitants of Earth until Christ comes down and rules from His throne in the New Jerusalem. It's comforting to know no matter what the enemy throws at me God will use it to strengthen my perseverance and perfect my faith.
The Scriptures tells us that we will be tested and persecuted. So why are we so surprised when it happens? The Scriptures also speaks of a time of severe persecution. A time that no one has ever seen before and will never see again. We are already seeing it in the middle east. In Matt chapter 24 verses 1 - 35 Jesus talks indepth about the end of the age and what to expect. But for some reason, Christians, normally luke warm ones, get the "woo is me" complex. They somehow think they are exempt from the trials of this world. Jesus speaks many times of how His followers will be beaten, jailed and killed. Instead of saying "Thank you Jesus for choosing to perfect me" we say "Oh why God. Why me?
?"
So the next time you feel the world is caving in on you, remember, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to them."
