hey yall I'm compiling some Bible verses in a notebook and i bet alot of you can help. we all have experienced different denominations most likely. growing up baptist for instance i thought that pre trib rapture was the only line of thinking and that the baptism of the Holy Spirit happened the instant you got saved. i have found that the Bible doesnt say that at all. and so im interested to know what the issues that each denomination has and which verses completely contradict what the different churches teach. we shouldnt all be split up anyway i think we need to take these verses and start breaking down the walls that separate us all. for instance acts 19:1-12 makes it quite plain that believing and being baptized and being baptized in the Holy Spirit are all different and distinct events. do you have any verses that knock down our made up aspects of our religions?

You are right. Denominations and sects are man made from a religious spirit. We should all move closer to God and the Bible is a good starting point and time spent with God in prayer and fellowship.

well for the denomination i grew up in .. well i can notice plenty of issues with it that stand out to me now . which is tendency of worshipping saints and icons of saints and bones of saints and praying to them as intermediaries between the people and God and Jesus. also a tendency from the clergy of discouraging any other research and indicating that other denominations are satanic and that they stand for the right way of worshipping God while everyone else has flaws or something.

I can guess that one. Samuel was a holy man and a saint as we all are. God was not best pleased when Saul 'called him up', as he should have known. Worship is for God only. Father, Son and Holy Spirit accepted worship and prayers. Man (eg Peter) and created beings (angels) did not. This is not denominational, it is from God's word. As for having professional clergy deliver our 'religion' to us as clients; it is against the example of Christ who discipled and empowered his followers. Even when they made shocking mistakes like suggesting calling down fire, He didn't put them on probation for a year or send them to a small island off Western Ireland. He rebuked them and moved on and set them loose. The Apostolic Church in Acts is one where the leaders serve and there is a high level of involvement of all of the body of Christ who respond to the Holy Spirit. Oooh, surely they need a licence, a degree, to be male, to wear the right clothes, bla bla bla. Jesus said that He is the Way and the Truth and the Life and that no-one gets to the Father except through Him (not this denomination or that). Don't follow men. Follow Jesus.

well warrior. i realised at some point in my life that God's word in my life was not there. i spent most of my life thinking i am christian and although i never doubted God's existance i was basically quite far from Him and never had a clue about the many things going on that are so against what's written in the Bible.

ok i tried a new church today and found one redeeming quality. during the singing people were waiting at the front to pray for anyone who came up for prayer. like 10 people and then when someone came the people in the rows behind them would come up and lay hands on them and i assume they were praying along. the rest of the service felt like death lol. it was well planned and well executed and looked the part and sounded the part. but it didnt feel like life and didnt build me up at all. maybe it was for a differently gifted or differently mature Christian. but not the place i need to be. one down a couple zillion more to go:)

well i was impressed with the church i went to today. the issues that i saw seemed minor compared to the fact that the pastor seemed to have a vision of the future that is what im looking for. im going to camp here for the time being.

ok i had a thought. if the first coming of Christ had a specific purpose, which it did. then what is the second coming for? on the earth God already had ultimate authority right. but the devil was a sort of judge. he accused everyone of what they had done on the earth. Jesus didnt do anything wrong and was falsely put to death and because of that the devil was proven an unjust judge and the keys to hell or his authority were taken away and Jesus was placed at the right hand of God to intercede for us. obviously anything God does has many different levels so that wasnt the only thing accomplished in the perfect work of Christ. but it was one of them. so what is the end game? in end times what does the second coming accomplish? what perfect work has yet to be done? I'm sure we all know some of it, new body, new jerusalem, heaven, the dead are judged, the devil is cast into the bottomless pit, evil and good are separated, eternal life, and so on. alot of things are listed but whats the big picture? where God is sitting He sees it all from start to finish already and He knows why He is doing it this way. so what do yall think? zoom all the way out and look at the end of this world and this age and what is the big picture look like to you?

God is so fair. Before Judgment things are getting so starkly polarised so that we have every chance to reject the prince of this world in favour of Him. There are those who say 'religion' is in decline, which I don't disagree with, but there is a new breed of Christians who hunger for Him, desperately wanting to get going on the Great Commission. That is where the growth is - worldwide and it's crazy fast. I am looking forward to the end of this age and the start of a better age. The world offers counterfeit rewards, each with a sting in the tail. Imagine a world with all the nasty, evil rubbish gone and just pure holiness in the presence of God.
