Before we can really move forward in getting back to the basics, we as Christian's need to fully understand that God created all things in a certain way for certain reason's. Most Christan's bulk when you use God and nature in the same sentence due to the new age movement, mythology, the Zodiac, mystics and the solstices. And God forbid I ever use the word "Holistic"
Those people have used the things that God designed and replaced God with them. So many Christan's avoid the blessing of God due to the fear of entering into occultism.
Notice in the story of creation, God expressly states that he created vegetation and fruit bearing tree's and THEIR SEED. This is so you can plant it once and either receive fruit from the tree for years to come or till your garden under with some of the veggies still unharvested at the end of the year so you need not plant any seed the next year.
Today this is called Holistic Gardening where the earth is allowed to heal itself through composting of the vegetation it produced the prior year. Just as God planned.
Herbal medicine is usually looked at as mysticism or witchcraft. But if you were to go outside in your yard or the local park you could find herbs that God created to help our bodies immunity so that as we continue to fight the good fight of faith, we do not fall ill due to the stresses we face.
Paul spoke about having some wine from time to time to help keep our 3 trillion microbes in our gut strong. Yes wine does have an alcohol content but it also has fermented fruit. Fruit alone is an anti-oxident, but when fermented it becomes easier to be absorbed into the lining of our gut giving our immune system an immediate boost. Paul was not advocating we have drunken orgies. He knew what the body went through when we enter into spiritual warfare. He also knew that the devil would use whatever tactics it could to hinder him from preaching the gospel. So he shared with us one of God's greatest secrets about food. Fermentation.
A lot of Christian's are afraid to raise animals because they call it husbandry and that may lead them into animal worship. But just imagine if everyone had 2 chickens that they could feed all their kitchen scrapes to and get an egg or 2 a day out of it. Or if they had some rabbits that could produce all their meat for them. According to the USDA, rabbits are not classified as livestock. That means anybody living anywhere, even downtown NY in a highrise, can raise their own meat.
The secular world has taken many Godly things and twisted them. Instead of fighting them and taking them back as the Israelites did with the land that God gave them, we just turn completely away and give up. Christian's now live in a box in their own little world as society dies. And all along they miss out on the blessing that God gave to mankind.
I will start to post things form time to time that will help you prepare yourself to be more self sufficient. Some do it because they fear the world will end as we know it or the US will collapse. Others do it so they are not dependent on the government for the food and energy they need. My family and I do it for all the above because we know that God will meet all our needs. Notice I said "Needs". Not "Wants".
Thanks and God bless
