well i started a 3 day fast yesterday..........and now thats over. made it all of 21 hours. so ummmmm i think maybe i need help in this area. im a total food addict and whether i make it 1 day or 4 days or 3 hours i always seem to break down and eat whatever it is before my time is up. i did get some good praying in at work today while i was driving but come dinner time i gave up.
im kina new at the fasting thing a couple years ago i finally found out that you are actually supposed to do that i didnt really care for the idea prior. but fasting comes with results, and thats what i like is the results. but im not real good at it by any means so if someone has help or advice in this area i need it.

mommy w/ 3 kids here... i realized w/ the fast stuff that it's purpose is to get us thinking on Him in our hunger...not sacrificing ourselves. so i hadda have energy to still do my duties as parent, wife, housekeeper etc. everyone is different, especially if you know you have a vice in that area...so alter it as you go as led of the Spirit. i personally did water, chicken or beef broth & juice (sparingly) all day & then would have a modest dinner w/ my family in the evening (no dessert, no seconds--no sugar stuffs). no pop, no coffee & no tea was a big deal w/ me. i always had something warm to drink in the mornings...so i'd heat up plain ole warm water or do the broth in the mornings to take that place. since you feel a vice w/ the eating thing... you may consider a 'humble fast' for starters. and that'd be water (1 juice or broths too) and some kind of tearable bread...like pita, baguette, foccia. eat it whenever, but only it. then if you last 3 days... then the next fast, perhaps pick a bread that's even plainer... omit the juice etc. first u needa make it through : ) i guarantee that every time you rip into that bread you will be thinking of Jesus, tearing that bread w/ the disciples....it is a powerful image and action for training wheels in fasting. so try again... you can do it

Hey, I just stopped a 6 day juice fast. I juice fresh produce daily, but sometimes I do juice fasts. I did a 12 day one before that. I know it's a little different than a food fast. I have done those too. Try starting with skipping breaky and lunch but eat dinner. You will be amazed at the spiritual dial you turn up when you just do that. Pray in tongues a lot and you might just start praying in English too! Or vice versa! Or try doing juice fasts; you might find them easier for at first. I recommend getting a juicer though and doing it right. Store bought juices are dead sugar. But I recommend starting out with skipping the breakfast and lunch. You will build up from there!
