This message/plea is from a FB friend. I don't think it was a coincidence that it is exactly what I'd been repenting of/praying/confessing just 10 minutes before ...and preceeded by a looong time of praying in the Spirit. .. and a weight of heaviness for our nation was lifted off of me.
As of this night I am totally on board these next 4 years in practicing the message that follows. Jim
- Today is not much different than yesterday. God is still sovereign. America still needs prayer. The President still needs prayer. Living in a democracy doesn’t give the church a right to ignore the heart of God. He is bigger than electoral votes and we must never confuse our right to vote with our necessity to pray.
Revival in America will not come from a voting booth. It will come because a people, who are called by His Name, humble themselves in the presence of God, pray for their people, and allow true godly repentance to take hold of us in a deep way. The church functions differently than the world. We should know that. Our kingdom functions through our cooperation with God’s resources and provision. This means that the church is primarily a praying church.
We do not bash the President whom God has given authority. (Lord, forgive us)
We pray for him. We do not have to agree with his politics or moral principles. Just respect the position and live according to God’s word by praying for those in authority. True change starts with the church. Let’s not look for a man to change what God has given to His church. He has given us authority to create change but if we do not actively press in through faithful prayer, there will be no change. We are responsible for our generation. We are the light and the salt to those in the earth. Change begins with us. Please, please take time and pray for our nation and President.
