ok so many people including myself have often wondered why it was a sin for david to take a census and there had to be a penalty for the nation. well i was reading in exodus today i found the answer!!!!!!!
exodus 30:11-16 tells that every Israelite when the census was taken was supposed to give a half shekel to redeem their life when they were counted. if they didnt a plague would break out.
and there it is. david took a census and no one redeemed their life with a half shekel and a plague broke out. almost seems simple:)
