I decided to make this thread to post some College/University studies that prove Speaking in Tongues (also known as Glossolalia). Feel free to post any studies in here proving Tongues or any of the other Gifts of the Spirit. University of Pennsylvania Study News Release: www.uphs.upenn.edu/news/News_Releases/oct06/glossolalia.htmUniversity of Pennsylvania Study Image Closeup w/brief description: www.uphs.upenn.edu/news/News_Releases/oct06/glossolalia_photo.htmDuke University: twp.duke.edu/cms/aMediaBackend/original?slug=delib2011liu&format=pdfThis is a deep study conducted on Tongues (which in this study is referred to as a Pentecostal Experience). To put in a direct quote from the author/researcher: “The application of neuroscience itself does not disprove, but rather substantiates, the reality of the subjective experiences that has contributed to the spread of the Pentecostal movement.” It's very technical and so it takes a while to absorb (I'm not even sure if I absorbed the entire thing yet LOL) but it is only 7 pages long. One thing this does is tear apart a few theories — mainly that we're crazy. The article actually states: "...studies have shown that people who demonstrate glossolalia ability are in stable mental and physical health, thus disproving the theory that glossolalia is the result of mental instability and opening doors for neurological research on the spiritual phenomenon." I'll continue to update this post with some more studies done but this is excellent news!

I have read a number of studies and what is shocking to us is that some of them are not an outright condemnation, however science always falls short of acknowledging God, eventhough many scientist privately believe in God. Typical would be that, 'We cannot understand how the process operates in the brain that allows this language to originate without significant activity in the language centers.' Similar to the origin of the universe having a 'singularity'. Strong paradigms exist and are effectively fortresses in the religion of sciencism. Sir Karl Popper, perhaps the greatest scientific philosopher of the last century, virtually admitted as much. There is no written authority beyond the Bible but you are right that it is good to see science pointing in the right direction even if its doctrines force its adherents to fall short of acknowledging the obvious conclusions.

Exactly. The Penn University one (although being the first to study it) seems to want to say "no" to it being God. In fact, the captioned image says that the frontal lobes made us "feel as if we are in control". But it actually doesn't. If you search the function of the frontal lobes, they ARE in control. Then in that first article the guy says, "we, scientifically, assume it’s being taken over by another part of the brain, but we couldn’t see, in this imaging study, where this took place". Maybe because they won't find another part. It's funny how scientists will spend all of their time studying something and proving their theories on everything (in this example, the frontal lobes) and then they will throw away what they've proven for the sake of calling a conclusion false. Actually though, the woman from Duke seems to be on the side that it is the Holy Spirit. Although as a scientist, she has to admit the small gaps (which she does towards the end of the article and I don't blame her because well...as a credible source you should), throughout the article she keeps saying things which show that she believes in it to some degree. Also a side note, I don't necessarily believe that there is a written authority beyond the Bible (although there are several texts people claim are Biblical), but I do believe that you can see "God's Fingerprint" in everything. I'll post something else very interesting which kinda proves this.

Update: I'm not going to post the video because although it is full of useful information, it seems to attempt to sway people into a New Age type philosophy. I think I'll just post the individual concepts later on. It's quite interesting.
