ok so i went to shut the coup last night and found one dead chicken. what happened to my chicken? it wasnt attacked except it looked like it was pecked at a bit but it was fine yesterday and im new at this so i have no clue what happened. if you can help me figure it out or even point me to a good resource that would be awesome!

I am so sorry for your loss. If you can't see any signs of damage to her body and she wasn't sick, I would guess she died from heart failure. Or she may have had a blood clot in her lung or brain.
Also, feel in her stomach to see if it is hard or lumpy because the chicken may have been egg bound. It is a very common occurrence.
Just like humans, chickens can die unexpectedly.

whew well thats comforting. i wasnt sure if maybe they would all just drop dead in a couple days from some chicken pandemic. too late to check her stomach but if it happens again i will remember that. my only real concern was to get her away from the rest in a hurry. i wouldnt want some arkansan bird flew to start flying around everywhere. the rest are all present and accounted for this morning though so we may have avoided the carnage:)
