the jeremiah 31 i'm supposing is the one...i didn't go look at vid & comments but that seems to be the biggest angst people have. 29 & 30 are referencing the 'new covenant' that's talked about 32 and on. "...written on their heart" and then "they shall no longer teach for all will know the Lord"... which is receiving the holy spirit baptism (born again)...not to be confused w/ getting saved and going no further into sonship w/ resulting power and authority. ("you shall receive power"...promise w/ baptism of the holy spirit...pre- that, when Jesus sent them out 2x2, it was power in the name of Jesus only...but holy spirit immersion is a 24/7 power-house!)
remember in the OT they sacrificed lambs n such as atoning for sin so in ezek 18 it has to be the case because if not, the sacrificing for their sin would be useless. so whoever is good n doing proper atonement is exempt.
and speaking of sacrifice & all they hadda do in the OT.... it still goes on but appropriated thru Jesus. remember He didn't come to void the scriptures, but fulfill them...so instead of erasing what books like deut. have to say about curses, we should look around at all the continuing disorder vs. the promise and see the blessings and curses are plainly seen. if the sinner didn't appropriate what Jesus offers, it goes on. 3rd & 4th generation can go a long way & so we can pretty much see that we all got 'junk' cuz there's no way alllll our ancestors appropriated everything. especially each and every sin.
when we r dealing w/ spirit-filled...the holy spirit is convicting us and we immediately repent (for all shall know the Lord). we are active in appropriation because there is nothing worse to us than grieving the holy spirit. "in that day...." I believe is for those that have h.s. baptism.
back to the 'looking around'... people like to blame sickness and defects on some ominous 'fall'... and yet what does God promises proclaim for us? why wouldn't every believer be in absolute victory all the time w/ a good and loving God's promises? it doesn't jive when we look at cold hard reality.
it also doesn't jive that satan is just allowed to have a hey day over believers for no good reason. if we look at the lists of curses, we see an obvious doorway.
i didn't really understand the generational deliverance thing when i was walked through it, but i could feel stuff leave me and my mind became quiet from previous constant coulda-shoulda-woulda thoughts i'd always known. i knew something remarkable happened and my husband did too. i first understood because the holy spirit demonstrated it and then understanding came through reading the word.
even so... have we picked up stuff since then? sure.... and so does everyone....everything that as an idol offends God and causes Him to hand us over to the tormentors lest we humble ourselves and appropriate it w/ the Son. that's y we must constantly be in a mode of self examination. did i say 'i'm sick and tired of this always happening'...and then actually get sick cuz i didn't repent of a wrong confession? or maybe i didn't take care of my temple & overexerted when the holy spirit said 'don't, plz trust'? spirit-filled have a lot of responsibility and are in no wise exempt...but because we are filled, and always refilling, He will be happy to show us where we jumped track if we are asking 'why'.
the hard stuff is where life wounds us... and we must invite Jesus in to heal our souls...because if we don't satan will just latch on cuz there is always something in life wounds (bitterness, guilt, blame, fear etc.)and anything that's not God's thoughts gets handed over. these are the very subtleties that i am really trying to press in about in my own walk and finding that there is a tremendous amount of surrender that i need to do.
we know that not everyone that calls Lord, Lord shall inherit... we can go back up a bit to Jer.31:27&28 "Behold, days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and with the seed of beast. 28"As I have watched over them to pluck up, to break down, to overthrow, to destroy and to bring disaster, so I will watch over them to build and to plant," declares the LORD."
2 kinds of believers... 'beast' is as 'carnally minded', Jesus as 'Son of man' born of spirit.
so if i jump track in an area would my spirit filled son inherit a curse? not according to the word.
what if the son was 'christian' but not born-again? is he appropriating? in the scripture 27 above... would he even 'know' to do it w/out the spirit indwelling? most of 'christomdon' thinks they don't havta do anything as allll is paid w/ no appropriation required. no relationship in bringing everything to Jesus. it doesn't mean those purchased by receiving salvation aren't saved but good christians can die by curses running their course...and we see it every day.
w/ nick, he said God showed him: John 9:1-3, and if that's what God told him, then that's great. at the same time...God had Jesus heal that blind man and so nick can be fully restored too. now that would be a 'greater works' and we are on the cusp for that flood!!!
anyways... this has taken a while... n the biggest thing is 'context'. still if you are having a rough time w/ this concept...keep the questions going and anyone chime in
in this hour...referring to the strongs concordance (going back to original greek or hebrew) is important to a study when someone is proving a point, either pro or con can help get past one-sided views. you really, really need to know for yourself & God will confirm and show you as you dig in. as i said, He drug me into this thing backwards w/ results first and then compare what i saw around me opposed to the promises of abundant life in the word and so the fire was lit to question everything.
blessings
